made 108 granny squares and joined them after every 3rd row with granny stripes

added a few dc stitches into the granny stripe border to give it a wave look

Hoe rooier hoe mooier    (Red is best)
Mr D found this old and very dirty bedside cabinet at our local secondhand shop.  We took it apart and started sanding it down with medium sandpaper, so that paint will stick to the surface.

after 3 coats of Plascon PVA paint (hot-n-spicy) , what a facelift !
Now I used a soft cloth and Winsor & Newton's Oil Colour (Burnt Umber) and gave the hole cabinet a rub over, especially in the corners and ridges.  As you can see the colour has gone to a nice darker red not so bright,  moved it in to my teenage son's bedroom.

Very happy with the outcome don't you think?

Easy Peazy granny Cowl.....
A perfect lazy afternoon (weekends only) project. This pattern you can find  at inverleith.blogspot.com
I used Elle Pure Gold DK wool in 7 different colours and nr 3.5 hook.  I made 15 rows, you should end up with a long strip of granny stripe with very straight edges, sew up the short ends to make your cowl.
Although summer with us now I just could not resist making this cowl for winter.  So slip it over your head and wrap it around.

HELOISE  XOXO

So Proud of You...

Cross Stitching

I absolute LOVE Love LOVE Paula Vaughan's designs.  Her paintings have been converted into Cross Stitch patterns, this one is called INSPIRED BY SCRIPTURE Part II.

This pattern is out of  a book called QUILTS FOR ALL SEASONS - MARCH also by Paula Vaughan. I work all my cross stitching on Dublin Linen and use DMC embroidery cotton.
